John Williams | ||||||||||||||
On May 10th, 1861, at the age of 18, John Williams enlisted as a Private in Company H, 28th NY. He was wounded in action at the Battle of Cedar Mountain, on August 9th, 1862. He mustered out with the regiment on June 2nd, 1863. | ||||||||||||||
He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in the town of Bethel, Sullivan County, NY. | ||||||||||||||
The inscription on the headstone which marks his resting place reads: | ||||||||||||||

Evergreen Cemetery is mid-size and nicely kept. The Williams plot is located about ten rows in from the right side of the road that goes in to the cemetery. The road loops through the cemetery- the Williams plot is to the far right of the cemetery as one stands facing it from the road. | ||||||||||||||
