William H. Gaskill

At age 19, William Gaskill enlisted in Company C, 28th NY on April 25th, 1861 as Private. He served in that capacity through the duration of his enlistment and mustered out with the regiment on June 2nd, 1863.
He reenlisted as a Private in Company C, 2nd New York Mounted Rifles on December 30th, 1863. Less than a month later, on January 26th, 1864, he was promoted to Sergeant. With the war ended, he mustered out with the regiment on August 10th, 1865 at Petersburg, Va.
Mr. Gaskill is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Wilson, Niagara County, NY along with a number of his relatives.
His marker stone reads as follows:

Based on the dates, it is possible that the other relatives are his wife (Arietta) and their six children. However, that is unknown at this time.
Within the cemetery, they are buried in what appears to be the newer section; however, the section designation is unknown.
