Samuel McDonald | ||||||||||||||
Samuel McDonnell (appears as McDonald on his enlistment papers) served with Company C from May 1861 through to January 15, 1863, at which time he was discharged for disability.
Mr. McDonnell apparently had an eventful time in the 28th New York: He was captured at the Battle of winchester on May 25, 1862 and was captured again on August 29, 1862 at the Second Battle of Manassas.
The stone reads: | ||||||||||||||
SAMUEL McDONNELL Co. C 28th Regt. NY Vol Died May 8 1892 Aged 72 Yrs
He is buried very close to two other men who served with the 28th NY by the railroad tracks which run along the northern edge of the old section of the cemetery.
