Richard Kirk

On September 19th, 1861, Richard Kirk enlisted as Private in Company D, 28th NY. He transferred from Company D to Company H on December 31st 1861 and served with that company until he mustered out with the regiment on June 2nd, 1863.
He subsequently reenlisted as a Private with Company G, 2nd New York Mounted Rifles. He was promoted to Corporal on February 5th, 1864, was demoted within a month back to Private. He served with the 2nd NYMR through to the end of the war and was mustered out on August 10th, 1865 at Petersburg, Va.
He is buried at Rock Hill Cemetery in the town of Rock Hill, Sullivan County, NY.

However, the relationship of the other people listed to Richard Kirk is unknown.
The small cemetery, one block in from the main road, is nicely kept. The Kirk plot is located 10 rows from the road which runs into the cemetery. It is to the left of the road and about eight markers in.
