Benjamin Flagler

Benjamin Flagler enlisted with the 28th New York as Captain of Company A. He served with the regiment through the battle of Winchester, where he was seriously wounded. As a result of his injury, he resigned from the regiment in October 1862.
Regarding the rank which he holds on his tombstone: He was appointed chief of ordnance of the State of New York, which held a rank of Brigadier General, by New York State Governors Morton and Black.
General Flagler is buried at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery along with his son, Sylvester; wife, Martha. Also buried there are Martha's sister and brother-in-law.

The picture of the stone below was taken with a video camera so is very low quality. The huge tree to the left of the first picture is very close to the stone so made taking a picture of the side containing General Flaglers details quite difficult.
