William Crampton enlisted with Company B in May 1861 with the rank of Private. He served through to March 17, 1862 at which time he died of disease in Winchester, Virginia. | ||||||||||||||
He is buried at Cold Springs Cemetery, Lockport, Niagara County, NY. His gravestone is very worn and some sections are impossible to read. However, we can see the following: | ||||||||||||||

Mr. Crampton's father, Samuel, and other people are on another side of the stone which has less wear, pictured below, however, the exact transcription was not taken. | ||||||||||||||
