Eugene Sheppard

Eugene Shepard (as his name appears on his grave marker) served as Private with Company D of the 28th NY from may 1861 through to June 1863, at which time he was mustered out.

He is buried at West Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway, Medina, Orleans County, NY. The cemetery is north of Medina on the junction of Ridge Road (Rt104) and Marshall Road.

His grave marker reads:

EUGENE H. SHEPARD 28th Rgt. N.Y. Infantry Civil War 1842 - 1914

Another very clear marker stone. The cemetery is rectangular in shape (the longest side being along Marshall Road) and Mr. Shepard is buried centrally within the cemetery.
