William Luff | ||||||||||||||
William Luff enlisted as a Private in Company C of the 28th New York on May 8, 1861 and he was mustered in on may 22, 1861. He was detailed in the Ambulance Corps from late October 1862 to the end of 1862. He mustered out with the regiment on June 2, 1863. | ||||||||||||||
On December 29, 186, he reenlisted as a Private in Co C, 2nd New York Mounted Rifles. By mid-January 1864, he was promoted to Sgt, a role which he continued to fill through to August 10th 1865, at which time the regiment was mustered out due to the end of the war. | ||||||||||||||
He is buried in North Ridge Cemetery in Cambria, Niagara County, NY in section 4-061. Also buried there are his wife, Cornelia, and son, Frank, as follows: | ||||||||||||||

Within the cemetery, he is buried in section 4. Driving straight along the main track to the very back, section 4 is the last section which is on the right before the back of the cemetery. William Luff is buried about 10-15 rows in from the back. | ||||||||||||||
