Lafayette Lee enlisted with Company E of the 28th New York in May 1861. Following the Battle of Cedar Mountain, he was detailed to remain with the wounded at Culpeper, Va, and was captured when the Union Army withdrew. He was paroled on September 13, 1862 and rejoined the regiment until they were mustered out in June 1863. | ||||||||||||||
Mr. Lee is buried at West Avenue in Canandaigua, Ontario County, NY. He is buried in the East 1 section. The sections are divided based on the road pattern in the cemetery and, from the main entrance, "East 1" is immediately to the right (east) of the central track from the entrance to the first tracks which splits off at right-angle to the main track. | ||||||||||||||
