Chandler B Gillam

Chandler Gillam enlisted as Corporal in Company F of the 28th NY in May 1861. He was promoted to Sergeant on March 6th 1862 and to Sergeant Major on October 1st 1862. He mustered out with the regiment in June 1863.
He is buried at North Byron Cemetery in Byron, Genesee County, New York and his wife, Sarah is also on the family marker with him.
His marker reads:

Chandler B Gillam and Sarah E. Gillam are also represented by markers which read "MOTHER" and "FATHER".
Chandler P Gillam (Chandler B's son), his wife, Lillian, and their three children; Walter, Sarah Margaret and Grant are also buried there. The stones each contain the first name, years of birth and death and have each persons initials on the rear side, as follows:

The cemetery is quite small and the family is buried about six rows from the very back of the cemetery. In the first picture you can see the chain link fence and field which marks the back edge of the cemetery.
