Perry Gilbert | ||||||||||||||
On May 6th, 1861, at age 19, Perry Gilbert enlisted as a Private in Company D, 28th NY. He was killed in action at the Battle of Cedar Mountain on August 9th, 1862. | ||||||||||||||
He is buried in the old Baptist Church Cemetery in Yates, Orleans County, NY along with his brother and sister in law. | ||||||||||||||
His marker stone reads: | ||||||||||||||

The cemetery contains a lot of old stones, some of which are damaged and most show serious signs of weathering. Also, the cemetery is directly next to the church par park. Perry Gilbert and his brother are buried just next to the car park itself. | ||||||||||||||
