Benjamin Flagler | ||||||||||||||
Benjamin Flagler enlisted with the 28th New York as Captain of Company A. He served with the regiment through the battle of Winchester, where he was seriously wounded. As a result of his injury, he resigned from the regiment in October 1862. | ||||||||||||||
Regarding the rank which he holds on his tombstone: He was appointed chief of ordnance of the State of New York, which held a rank of Brigadier General, by New York State Governors Morton and Black. | ||||||||||||||
General Flagler is buried at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery along with his son, Sylvester; wife, Martha. Also buried there are Martha's sister and brother-in-law. | ||||||||||||||

The picture of the stone below was taken with a video camera so is very low quality. The huge tree to the left of the first picture is very close to the stone so made taking a picture of the side containing General Flaglers details quite difficult. | ||||||||||||||
