Edward Barker

On May 14th, 1861, Edward Barker enlisted as a Private in Company H of the 28th New York. He was 25 years old. He was captured on May 2nd, 1863, at the Battle of Chancellorsville, was paroled at City Point, Va., two weeks later and mustered out with the regiment on June 2nd, 1863.
He died on February 10th, 1904, and is buried in Orchard Cemetery in Livingston Manor, Sullivan County, NY along with his wife and possibly two of his children.

The cemetery is found on Orchard Street which is just off Old Route 17 in the town of Livingston Manor. Orchard Street is a tiny one-lane road that goes up a small hill. The Barker plot is to the left of the road, about seven rows from the southern edge of the cemetery and about six grave sites in from the road. The headstone is in very good condition, very smooth, shiny, and reflective.
