George Woods

On May 2nd, 1861, George Woods enlisted as a Private in Company C, 28th NY. He served with the regiment for the duration of it’s service and mustered out on June 2nd, 1863.
Based on his pension he reenlisted with the 2nd New York Mounted Rifles. However, no other details are known about his service with that regiment.
He is buried at North Ridge Cemetery in Cambria, Niagara County, NY along with his wife and a number of other relatives who may well be their children.
His headstone reads as follows:
