John Waters

John Waters, of Rushville in Yates County, enlisted as Private in Company E of the 28th New York on May 14th 1861 at the age of 19. He served as a teamster in the Post Train from January to May 1863 and was mustered out with the regiment on June 2nd 1863.
He died on November 20th 1880 and is buried at Rushville Cemetery in Rushville, Yates County.
His marker stone reads as follows:

28. Reg't. N.Y. Vol. Inf.
Died
Nov. 20. 1880.
Aged 36 Yrs.
Entering the cemetery from Main Street, John Waters is the first marker stone on the left next to the town war memorial.
