William H Howland

William Howland enlisted as Private of Company F, 28th NY in May 1861 and served through to the regiment being mustered out in June 1863.
He is buried at Mount Plesant Cemetery in Shelby, Orleans County, NY along with his wife, Mary.

Aged 85 Years
Next to William and Mary are the markers of Carrie and Fremont Hill. The suggestion is that Carrie is the daughter of William and Mary.
