John S. Chambers

John Chambers, born in England on 1840, enlisted with Company A of the 28th NY on April 22nd, 1861. He enlisted as a musician. He was transferred to the regimental band on October 12th 1861 and served with them until August 17th, 1862, at which time he was transferred back to Company A, and the band was discharged. He mustered out with the regiment on June 2nd, 1863.

Mr. Chambers is buried at Glenwood Cemetery in Lockport, NY with a number of other relatives.

His stone reads:

Glenwood is a large cemetery rolling over a number of hills down along a valley bottom in Lockport. Mr. Chambers is buried towards the bottom of the cemetery close to the WWI/II cemetery.
