Samuel Lewis

Samuel Lewis enlisted as a Private in Company K, 28th NY, on April 26th, 1861 at the age of 21. He mustered into with the regiment and travelled to Washington, where he was discharged for disability on July 19th, 1861 at Camp Harris, DC.
He is buried at County Line Cemetery, Somerset, Niagara County, NY along with his wife and possibly two of his children.
His marker stone reads as follows:
1840 1919
MARY J. His Wife
1843 - 1903
Two separate headstones mark two other relatives:
1879 1945
1881 - 1962
The cemetery is very small and very well maintained. At the time of the visit, the cemetery was surrounded by a wall of corn on all four sides with only a small gap through which to enter. Within the cemetery, the Lewis family plot is located very centrally.
